Hyderabad FC Bartholomew Ogbeche gains the title for being the all-time leading goalscorer in the Hero ISL history

This Monday, January 31st, Bartholomew Ogbeche of Hyderabad FC has his brace against the NorthEast United FC at PJN Stadium located in Margao. Goa received his title as the all-time leading goalscorer for the Hero Indian Super League or ISL. This was after he overtook Sunil Chhetri and Ferran Corominas with his 49th goal in the competition. 

The newest addition to Hyderabad Football Club, Bartholomew Ogbeche, won as the all-time leading goalscorer in the Hero ISL Indian Super League history. Surpassing the previous record made by Sunil Chhetri and Ferran Corominas of 48 goals, the 34-year-old attacker, Bartholomew, has scored 49 goals in the league. This brought great cheers to Hyderabad as the veteran player made his way and was given one of the biggest titles in ISL history. 

It does not stop there. Currently, Ogbeche is the only player who has become the top goal scorer for three consecutive clubs in ISL Indian Super League history. Besides Hyderabad Football Club, he is also a part of the NorthEast United Football Club and Kerala Blasters Football Club. These two are also known clubs in the ISL League. According to these clubs, Bartholomew has also been one of its most consistent players in the league and scored one goal for each season. 

Start of Bartholomew Ogbeche’s Football Career

Bartholomew didn’t start as a born legacy when it comes to football. Bartholomew is from Nigeria and started playing with the Nigerian Professional Football League side Lobi Stars in 2000. In the first year of being a league member, he hasn’t played when the team has competed in Europe. 

Even so, after a year, Bartholomew finally had the chance to travel and compete, and with his dedication, he was able to prove himself and was also the year when he got to sign with the Paris Stain Germain league in 2001. This was his stepping stone. He was a start player who went to play for 57 games and netted six goals for the club.

As he started his career with Paris Saint-Germain and scored in the 2001-02 season, Ogbeche could play with higher leagues such as the Al-Jazira Football League in UAE, Real Valladolid in Spanish La Liga, and SC Cambuur in Dutch as top flight. These years were significant for Bartholomew as he was able to play for the Super Eagles squad in the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan. He appeared in 11 games of the competition and scored three goals in the event. 

The tight training and consistency, Ogbeche has offered to his career from the time he started up to now brought success to his field. In the football leagues, he is known for being the tall center-forward and was able to compete in big events such as the ISL Super League and joined the popular clubs in football. His talent was recognized by many when he got to participate in the most critical games of the sport.

Previously, Ogbeche was signed by NorthEast United FC after the ISL League season from 2018 to 2019. This even made an immediate impact on Bartholomew as he was able to lead the Highlanders to its first ever fourth-place finish in the league scoring a total of 12 goals during the season. Subsequently, Bartholomew joined allegiances to the Kerala Blasters Football Club and made his success as the league’s joint-top scorer that won a total of 15 goals. 

It didn’t stop there, as on the next season after the Kerala Blasters FC where Ogbeche helped Mumbai City FC win their first ISL Super League title after adding 8 goals to the team. And just recently, Bartholomew followed by joining Hyderabad FC during the 2021-2022 ISL season where he again scored 14 goals during his 13 matches in the season. 

Recently Bartholomew Ogbeche joined Hyderabad Football Club, because of his recent success, Ogbeche is slowly building his name in the football competitions. Starting from the start of his milestone in the football industry, he has been into different football leagues. From there, his career took off, and played for various football clubs like Al-Jazira, the Spanish side Real Valladolid and SC Cambuur. 

All of this makes him worthy to be a valuable player for Hyderabad FC. Even with success, Ogbeche didn’t stop improving and continually aiming for greater sights in the industry. His achievements are starting to get bigger and now proclaimed as the all-time goalscorer in the Hero ISL Indian Super League. Even the most popular faces in the field Manuel Marquez, the head coach of Hyderabad FC is expecting great things from the veteran was in no doubt, satisfied with Ogbeche’s performance and was able to bring home his title to the team.
